How would you build a simple wooden ramp?

Question by Ashley: How would you build a simple wooden ramp?
My husband is trying to build a ramp so he can get his father into our house. Does anyone know how to do this using plywood & 2x4? His father is not able to move his wheelchair his self so, we just need a ramp we can pull him up our stairs into our house.

get a little help from someone who knows basic carpentry, even if you have to get a handyman. for a few dollars more, you can have a very nice ramp complete with rails,etc. without seeing the intended project, i cant help you.

  1. How many steps are you trying to get up? Making a ramp for 2 steps is simple use 3- 2x4's and sandwich them between 1/2 inch plywood. Screw this together with deck screws. This will give you a 36 inch by 8ft ramp that a couple men can move. It's not strong enough to handle an electric wheelchair, but it's a nice temporary ramp. On two steps it will have a 2 inch pitch making it easy to use.
