I'm Fat, I'm young, I'm in an Electric Wheelchair, and I need to lose weight. What are my options?

Question by Aaron B: I'm Fat, I'm young, I'm in an Electric Wheelchair, and I need to lose weight. What are my options?
The best thing I can think of is to have one Salad a day with a few glasses of water throughout the day.. Do that for a couple months and I should be a couple dozen pounds less. What if I want to do it quicker? Is there a safe means to Weight Loss pills or something?

How handicaped are you? What physical movements are you capable/incapable of?

  2. Bariatric surgery would probably be your best option.

  3. Eat a healthy well balanced diet. If you're not already at a healthy weight, you could go see a dietitian or trainer. They'll be able to help you much more than I can.

  4. My father is disabled and they tell him to loose weight all the time. I just don't think able bodied people think before they talk. Good-Luck and if you find a solution...let me know!

  6. Try a raw food diet. Try to go vegan or vegetarian. Fasting is an option. Obviously these are unconventional alternative routes. Personally I wouldn't starve myself with one salad a day and a few glasses of water. You still need a certain amount of nutrients, calories, and water to function normally. Talk to your doctor. Research. Find out what your body needs and what it doesn't need. Get scientific information on nutrition and not what somebody writes in a magazine. Science is very different from the dominant culture(assuming you're in a developed country, maybe even the USA). I think half the junk we put into our bodies isn't even food if you ask me. Again, try a raw food diet.

  7. yeah you need to do exercise... but that doesn't mean that you cant have help, why not invest in one of those electric stimulation machines. You could even hook them up to your paralyzed limbs to give them a work out too. I would consult your doc first but Bruce Lee used to use the machine on his pecs while he typed... you know he was paralyzed for a while too... (assuming you have paralyzation and not something else keeping you in a wheelchair.) Also you can do alot with your arms as well to get your heart rate up to that fat burning level... Contrary to most ppls view, fat burning exercise is actually of the lesser intensity, its all about keeping the heart rate up just a little bit but for an extended period of time. Walking is great fat burning exercise, so if you can do something that would get your heart rate to that of a brisk walk then you would be in good fat burning mode. I hope this helps. Good luck

  8. I've seen many guys in wheel chairs with muscular arms. First thing I'd do is put that luxurious electric wheel chair into storage and get one of those "race bike" style wheel chairs that you actually have to move with your arms.

Then go push your new wheel chair around the local high school's/ college's running/race track.

I'm sure doing some push ups wouldn't hurt either.

Forget about the salad and water thing. Those diets are for girls.
After you work out really hard, you'll feel like eating healthy naturally on your own.
